Keynote Address: Emily Penn, Explorer and Ocean Advocate

Our oceans cover 71% of earth’s surface and contain 97% of earth’s water. They are the heart and lifeblood of our existence and give us life. It’s a critical time for the fragility of our oceans, with three fundamental threats: pollution, overfishing and climate change.

Emily Penn, explorer, ocean advocate and skipper is at the helm of change, and will share her own inspirational personal journey from architect to co-founder of eXXpedition and more.

She will take you on a journey and explain what it’s like to be out there in ‘the big blue’, sharing with us how her first hand, frontline ocean experiences have helped motivate her into action. Emily will show us how there’s still time to stem the problem, focusing on the most visible problem (pollution) at source, and turn the tide back towards healthier, abundant, sustainable seas.

Make no mistake, this is the biggest crisis for the oceans in the history of humankind and the reality is there is no silver bullet, however, through Emily’s invaluable experience and engagement with business, governments and passionate groups and individuals, you’ll find out what you can actually do about the current situation on a preventative and behavioural level.
